You may have had your precious pups groomed by a sweet little lady--Judy did that for many years at home or at Judy's Poodle Parlor. She loved to paint and had a wonderful eye for detail. She loved to play pool, darts and to bowl. When she was young, she loved to go shopping for Carnival glass with her mother. Judy was deaf and had a wonderful extended family in the Deaf community that she loved, served, and protected. She worked as a custodian at Hanford, she taught American Sign Language classes at CBC for 13 years, and also taught elementary school children sign language. She was always there to help the South Eastern Washington Service Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Judy struggled with kidney and heart problems for many years. Because of her sick heart, Judy was not a candidate for a kidney transplant, even though she had offers of a kidney from many friends. She got a staph infection that spread to her blood and to her heart. There was nothing more that could be done for her. Judy was strong, brave and generous to the end, she slipped away peacefully in her sleep on Friday morning of December 11, 2009. Judy was the oldest daughter of Helen Robna Thompson and Eugene Clyde Adair. She was born January 19, 1945 in Pryor, Oklahoma. She attended The State School for the Deaf in Gooding, Idaho and graduated from The Washington School for the Deaf in Vancouver, Washington in 1965. She lived in Richland for about 60 years. Judy was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother, Eugene C Adair, Jr. and her sister, Anneta Anderson (George). She is survived by her husband, Henry W. Brooks of Richland, Washington; her daughter Holly C. Pearce (Scot) and son, Marc Malmin and her beloved grand-child, Ashley Beverly Pearce, all of Gresham, Oregon. She leaves her siblings: Willis Adair (Hilda) of Visalia, CA; Bobbie Clark; Maudine Fayer (Robert); Joe C. Adair; Phyllis Hole (Brian); James W. Adair (Kathie); Peggy J. Adair and numerous nieces and nephews, all of Washington. She loved all animals, especially her three poodle pups, Tisha, Layla and JoJo and her bird, PJ. Judy's family would like to thank Paula Bazinet and the wonderful girls from The South Eastern Washington Service Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Dr. Saad Tabarra, Dr. Obioma Onurorah, Dr. Saravanan Kasthuri and the excellent nursing staff at Kadlec Hospital for all of their help, concern and support. To all of Judy's extended family of friends...Thank You for all of your prayers, support and constant vigil........We know you loved Judy and she loved all of you. We know Judy is in Heaven, she is completely healthy and she's dancing. God has given her a special set of paints to paint us some rainbows. \lii/ (I Love You)
Memorial services will be held at Bethel Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send a contribution to the South Eastern Washington Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, 124 N. Fifth Avenue, Pasco, WA 99301 in memory of Judy.
