Norma was born and raised in Koshkonong, Missouri. Married Harold Jones (RIP). With World War II going strong Harold entered the Navy, later joining the family. Norma moved to Richland, WA, in 1944 with their two children.
In 1950 she went to work at the Richland Laundry. Then Hanford's reproduction center in the Federal Building in Richland, where she worked until retirement in 1984.
Norma was a member of Northwest United Protestant Church. Through the years of living in Richland, Norma and Harold found sports to be very entertaining. They attended almost all basketball games at Columbia/Richland High School during the '50s and '60s.
Throughout Norma's life she had many travels. In the early years her travels were mainly with family camping all over the state of Washington. From Westport, Washington, to the Pot Holes in Eastern Washington. Her other travels took her as far away as Greece.
Norma was also a member of the VFW for many years and Northwest Protestant Church.
She left Richland after 49 years of living here to live in Milwaukie, Oregon. Visiting mom one day, she questioned, 'I wonder if there is Government Housing in Heaven.'
Norma has spent much of her time keeping up on the Mariners and Ice Hockey. Beanie Babies became one of her passions. She would rise early to go to the stores that were selling new ones, doing another one of her passions, walking.
All that have known her loved her. Joseph Jones Winterhawk ('58 RIP), Patti Jones Ahrens ('60) and Nina Jones Rowe ('65) husband (Fred), eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Brother Jim Boak, wife Kay, sister Millie Worley. Norma is Aunt and cousin to many around the world.
Graveside services will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Richland, WA, September 23, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Family and Friends will gather at her daughter Patti's home for lunch after.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Richland Post of the VFW, 1369 George Washington Way, Richland, WA 99354.
